Hi! I'm Emma, I'm 26 and based in Carlisle, Cumbria!
I fell in love with photography around the age of 17 when I picked up an old film camera in a vintage shop while on my art college lunch break. I actually learnt photography from that film camera through months of trial and error and a LOT of rolls of film! For years it was just a hobby and I ended up going from art college to a 9-5 job in accounting, until I finally took the leap to pursue a more "me" career in April 2022.
WHY I LOVE WHAT I DO
A lot of people ask me "why Emma Halliburton Creative? Why not 'Photography' instead?" Truth be told, when I took the leap to go self employed, I'd just been made redundant from my 9-5 and didn't have much time to prepare. I'd dabbled in illustration and design work for a couple of years (my main client being illustrating and designing the tins for The Victorian Candle Co), and originally thought I'd pursue design work as my "main" career and photography second. I thought the easiest way to run my business would be to have it all under the one name, and "creative" fits both elements perfectly.
However, things definitely changed after I shot my summer of weddings in 2022 and I realised that wedding photography was my true passion. There's just something about the buzz of weddings that I thrive off, it's such a happy environment and the job satisfaction when my couples receive their photos is indescribable.
So, maybe one day I'll rebrand to Emma Halliburton Photography, but for now, Creative it is!
I have an extensive wedding photography portfolio and have worked across Scotland, Cumbria and Northumberland. When I'm not snapping or designing I absolutely love to travel and explore new places (meaning I'm ALWAYS up for travelling for a destination wedding!).
I have a documentary wedding photography style, meaning I LOVE to capture those natural, candid moments and opt for more casual posing prompts rather than those stiff-looking traditional poses. I absolutely love capturing the raw emotions of the day - the smiles, the laughter and the tears. FUN FACTS ABOUT ME
Favourite show: The U.S Office - this is on constant repeat in my house along with Gilmore Girls & Gossip Girl!
Favourite drink: I'm a fizzy drink fanatic and currently battling a Pepsi Max addiction, I tell myself it's fine because I don't actually drink alcohol, so it's not THAT bad right?
Favourite place: Honestly anywhere where there's water and a sunset! I love the Lake District in the summer, and also Whitehaven Marina. Strange choice I know, but the sunsets on there are so soothing to me!
Go-to Starbucks order: An iced peach green tea lemonade. I hate coffee and don't love hot drinks, but an iced tea always makes me feel summery.
Favourite music artist: I am a huuuuge swiftie! I have quite a varied music taste but my top Spotify artists are Taylor Swift, Lorde, Charli XCX & The 1975.
How I spend my days off: Obviously with my pooch Freddie! He's a 7 year old shih-tzu who loves the camera and is so pampered! He loves going for a day out exploring and then to a Freddie friendly pub/restaurant for tea.
Bucket list wedding: An Italian villa wedding would be my absolute dream booking! When I was in art college I did a big project on architecture, so any venue with unique or ornate architecture excites me!
